Nadira’s love affair with belly dance began in 1998 with friendships made in the SCA around the campfire. Those first tastes of Middle Eastern dance and culture planted the seed for what blossomed into a beautiful love of bellydance.
In 2003 Nadira began to study dance with the Fat Chance Belly Dance video series (you’d be amazed how many tribal girls started with Volume’s I-V!!). She was hooked. A fortunate meeting with Olivia of Zafira (Zagareet’s magazine Troupe of the Year) garnered a recommendation to study with Taaj Fi Qalbi, The Bellydance Trainer. Taaj’s combination of instruction and inspiration led Nadira to pursue bellydance on a professional level. To that end, Nadira has attended workshops taught by teachers such as Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara, Zoe Jakes, Zafira, and Sonia of the Bellydance Superstars to name a few.
Nadira has also traveled to Egypt to study with Raqia Hassan and Youssef from the touring Egyptian tannoura group. Nadira’s extensive study of bellydance combines with her powerful personality to bring intensity and excitement to her classes and her performances.
Nadira has performed all over Hampton Roads at venues from Scotty Quixx and Dirty Dicks to local shopping malls and charities such as relay for life. Nadira also loves to perform for fellow bellydancers at local haflas and enjoys being an active positive member of the bellydance community
Nadira’s professional growth continues with her pursuit of concurrent certifications as a Bellydance Trainer and a yoga/Pilates instructor.
