Nadira's Classes

Looking for a small tribal belly dance class with individualized attention? Or for a place where you can be nurtured and supported? Nadira's students enjoy all of this as well as performance opportunities and the opportunity to grow with other dancers in a tribal troupe.

Join Nadira at Lynnhaven Jazzercise, on Fridays from 7-8 p.m. for Foundations of Tribal Belly Dance. The Jazzercise Center is located at 1407 Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach, in the Primose Shopping Center (between Holland and Rosemont Roads). Classes are $12 each or $40 per month when pre-paid.

Past Meets Present

Modern belly dancing draws from the traditions of many countries, resulting in styles as diverse as the slower, sensuous Egyptian and highly energetic Turkish styles. These are often combined with elements of modern dance to create an eclectic style known as Tribal Fusion.

“Since the beginning of time, belly dance has been sacred, and I believe that will always be the underlying attraction for all women. In belly dance we feel our most feminine. We allow ourselves to reveal and embrace our vulnerability, motherhood, creativity, sexuality, sensuality, strength, power, wisdom, and all things which identify us as women. Such a dance form speaks to the core of all women and attracts us like bugs to a light. In a time and culture where women are afraid to bring attention to their hips and ashamed to move in ways that might be considered alluring, it is about time we reawaken our ancient goddess within and allow her to celebrate her Self through us.”
